Almond Recipes Featuring DaVinci Syrups

DaVinci Gourmet offers a large selection of recipes. These recipes each use one or more of our flavored syrups. Among these recipes, we offer over 100 almond syrup recipes. One tempting almond recipe is the deceivingly simpleAlmond Roasted Duck with Chinese Spices. This preparation contains many of the complex spices of a classic Chinese duck, however it takes little preparation and few special skills.

Almond Roasted Duck with Chinese Spices

Ingredients

  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1(2-3 lb.) duck
  • 1 small orange or tangerine, cut into wedges
  • 3 tbs. DaVinci Gourmet Almond Classic Syrup
  • 1 tbs. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. Chinese 5-spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Pat the duck dry and prick all over with a fork. Insert the garlic and orange wedges into the cavity of the duck.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the almond syrup, soy sauce, and 5-spice powder. Rub or brush the almond mixture onto the duck.
  4. Rub or brush the almond mixture onto the duck. Sprinkle the duck with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the duck on a rack, breast side down, in a roasting pan.
  6. Roast the duck, breast side down, in a preheated oven for 40 minutes, then turn the duck, breast side up, and continue to roast for 1 hour. The skin should be dark and crispy.
  7. Combine ingredients in a 12. oz. cup.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve the duck breast and legs whole for an elegant entree, or chop up the duck into bite-sized pieces and serve with spicy chutney as an appetizer.
